What steps have you taken to improve the human element of work life balance post COVID?

Is HR taking on more of a leadership role in influencing the culture of the workforce, if allowed? Some may say we are experiencing a foundational shift, and others see the post COVID work life as evidence of a trend that might not continue. This shifting can create considerable stress and anxiety in the organization and presents more hurdles to overcome while trying to find the new normal. Successful organizations align their operational culture with their organizational strategy and mission. Transforming workforce culture is difficult. It requires resilience, inclusive leadership, and humility to undo unspoken rules and to challenge unconscious behaviors. Having empathy to address these issues also requires a change in the way leaders and managers are supporting the employees. Could this also be more of a trend or is empathy winding its way into the culture of the organization?

Some of the questions we will be tackling with our panelists are –  what is the cultural shift they have undergone in their organization and what have they committed to implementing going forward? We are at a precipice for a collective values shift for the planet, for social equity, for financial disruption for all and a workforce that is devoted to a higher sense of purpose. Speakers:

Frederic Chanfrau is the Chief Information Officer of Citizens Commercial Bank. His primary responsibilities encompass overseeing all IT services for Citizens Commercial Bank, the Payment infrastructure, and the Salesforce platform across the company. Chanfrau manages all the applications used by Citizens Commercial customers, including Treasury Solutions, Trading, Lending and Syndication, Client Onboarding as well as Testing, Automations, APIs, and Business Process Management capabilities. He drives IT transformation to support the business growth, the digital transformation of the banking industry and compliance with the US regulations.

Prior joining Citizens Bank, Chanfrau was Senior Vice President for IT Regions at Schneider where he oversaw all IT services globally. Manage IT infrastructure, including networks, data centers, hardware, software and telecom, utilized by 160,000 people worldwide. He planned and lead complex enterprise-level technology, transformation and implementation, automation and modernization projects.

Chanfrau had been headhunted by MGE as the man to transform its IT organization because of his ability to scrutinize and measure up service delivery. He’d learnt these skills in a decade with audit firms such as Arthur Andersen and Ernst and young he led teams dedicated to extracting that most elusive of qualities, the service benefits of ERP systems.

Frederic holds a Master’s degree in IT from Paris Dauphine University, an MBA from the ESSEC Business School in France, and received certification in Senior Management at the Harvard Business School.

 

Alban Jacquin is currently leading Inclusion and Well-being for Schneider Electric. He is passionate about making the world a better place, humbly yet with ambition.

French native, he started his career as a communication specialist and joined Schneider Electric corporate communications in 2006 where he held various roles among which being the speech writer to the CEO. He then led various transformations for the company in the field of ESG and learning, always with a passion for innovation and improving people’s life either through access to energy, or access to the right development opportunities. Alban has a passion for agile, design thinking and embraces failing as high-value training! He also loves connecting and developing people, platforms, ideas, to “see the whole” and make a big impact.

Last but not the least, Alban is a father of two boys, he is an avid yoga and meditation practitioner, a reiki master and loves hip-hop and soul music, sneakers, hiking, travelling, and cooking. He has run two Marathons and completed one Spring Triathlon. Up to the next challenge!

 

Dr. Angela Justice is a visionary, award-winning executive focused on scaling organizations, aligning talent, and driving outcomes through key inflection points within complex, fast-growing and highly regulated organizations. She is currently the Chief People Officer of TCR2 Therapeutics. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare and biotech, Dr. Justice has a unique ability to quickly assess business context and develop customized solutions that get rapid, meaningful and sustainable results. Prior to joining TCR2, she was the Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Surgery Partners where launched a multi-year talent strategy to incentivize organic growth. Before that, Dr. Justice worked at Biogen as the Chief Learning Officer where she assumed a variety of responsibilities including creating and leading a centralized learning organization supporting 14,000 people across all departments and geographies, spearheading the implementation of a learning technology system, and making learning a competitive force with measurable business impact. Earlier at Biogen, Angela served as Senior Director of Global Medical Affairs where she supported the launch of 6 therapies and was an active member of the Human Resources Leadership Team. Previously, she held leadership roles at EMD Serono, the National MS Society and was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Dr. Justice received her Ph.D. in Biopsychology from the University of Chicago.

Moderators:

Kara Lund began her work as a professionally trained classical singer and stage performer while picking up some experience in film and commercial work along the way.  She taught college level performance and communications courses for 14 years before devoting herself to Speech Revolution full time in 2014. 

Her understanding of managing nerves, acting and developing stage presence, effective voice skills, and experience performing in over 10 languages guides her to helping both native and non-native English speakers to speak their truth with clarity and confidence. 

Lund Global Coaching & Consulting is the result of an interest in helping people remove blocks and get out of their own way through ICF credentialed coaching.  She is also a qualified PQ coach with Positive Intelligence®, helping clients develop the mental muscle to handle life’s challenge with less stress and more stamina resulting in peak performance, healthier relationships, and greater happiness and wellbeing.

Kara has worked extensively throughout the United States, France and in Shanghai with clients from over 20 different countries to work and compete effectively on the international stage.

 

Clifford Watkin has a stellar record of success helping companies implement human resources strategies that supplement growth, attract and retain talent, and embrace diversity.

Clifford has created comprehensive employee acquisition and retention strategies for private sector employers, professional services firms and non-profit organizations. His work covers the gamut of HR issues including legal compliance, performance management, on-boarding and creating effective corporate cultures.

His personal experience drives his passion to help bring about success for minority-owned businesses and corporate organizations. Assisting companies to develop and manage a diverse workforce brings together smart business practices and policies that improve top line revenue, bottom line growth and increased employee satisfaction. In South Africa, where Clifford grew up, he saw first-hand the difference it can make when people have equal access to capital, land, education and resources.

Clifford is a regular speaker at the Northeast Human Resources Association and Employee Benefits Council. Writing for the Boston Business Journal and Employee Benefits News, Clifford is a reliable human resources expert. Clifford is also an adjunct faculty member in Human Resources for Salem State University and SHRM certification instructor at North Shore Community College. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Northeastern University.

In 2017, Clifford was selected to be the HR strategic adviser for Eastern Bank’s Business Equity Initiative, a program developed to help accelerate the growth of Hispanic and African-American owned local enterprises.
