French Tech is a collective trademark launched in 2014 by the French government. French Tech’s ambition is to kindle tech champions, promote French know-how abroad and attract foreign investors. To augment its activities, the government has launched a call for projects that will create labels for the territories. The labeled territories, such as French Tech Boston, then put in their best effort to stimulate the ecosystem and set up necessary organizations that will allow startups to go from just an idea to a tech champion.

The Consulate General of France in Boston is the representation of the French Administration in New England. One of the missions of the Consulate is to support the development of French companies in New England, as well as to foster the economic, trading and financial exchanges between France and the United States. Furthermore, the mission of the Office for Science and Technology consists in fostering cooperative projects between actors of research and technology transfer on both sides of the Atlantic, and in identifying the local initiatives as regards support to research and innovation.
