French Tech is a collective trademark launched in 2014 by the French government. French Tech’s ambition is to kindle tech champions, promote French know-how abroad and attract foreign investors. To augment its activities, the government has launched a call for projects that will create labels for the territories. The labeled territories, such as French Tech Boston, then put in their best effort to stimulate the ecosystem and set up necessary organizations that will allow startups to go from just an idea to a tech champion.
The Consulate General of France in Boston is the representation of the French Administration in New England. One of the missions of the Consulate is to support the development of French companies in New England, as well as to foster the economic, trading and financial exchanges between France and the United States. Furthermore, the mission of the Office for Science and Technology consists in fostering cooperative projects between actors of research and technology transfer on both sides of the Atlantic, and in identifying the local initiatives as regards support to research and innovation.
The Conseillers du Commerce extérieur de la France (French Foreign Trade Advisors or CCEs) consist of 4,500 businesswomen and men and experts in the international domain, promoting France’s development. They are present in every region of France and in more than 150 countries. The Conseillers du Commerce extérieur de la France voluntarily share their experiences working for the development of France. They carry out concrete actions on a daily basis in partnership with public and private players who have a role in promoting and supporting the internationalisation of French companies. Appointed by the Prime Minister, CCEs are vested with four missions by public authorities. The North American region coordinates the exchange of information between nine U.S. committees: USA Northeast, USA Boston-New England, USA Midwest, USA Washington, USA Florida-Caribbean, USA South, USA Southeast, USA Northwest, USA Southwest) and that of Canada.
Business France is responsible for fostering export growth by French businesses and facilitating international investment in France. It promotes France’s companies, business image and nationwide attractiveness as an investment location. Business France North America is present in ten locations : New York, Toronto, Montréal, Boston, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Vancouver and San Francisco.
